So how are Korean guys different?

Aren't men the same everywhere?

Sure men generally have the same triggers and desires but not the same cultural upbringing, values or expectations.

Korean males in general have bigger builds and more dominant body-language than most other Asians.

Soon you'll discover what you can expect and decide for yourself if dating one is worth it.

A Korean Man's Values

Whereas a Western man values independence and equality it's not so for a Korean man.

Most Korean men value their family wishes and gender roles. When it comes to family they heavily influence who he will be in a relationship with.

So it means that if you want to be with a Korean guy understand that you're also going to be with his family.

They will influence his decision as to whether or not he will be with you.

A decade ago many Korean parents were against interracial dating. These days they are becoming more open-minded.

If you can show your interest in Korean culture and willingness to join and help their family then you're more likely to be accepted.

Korean men also value gender roles. In other words it's his job to make the money for the family but it's your job to take care of it.

They say that "Koreans make great boyfriends but horrible husbands."The reason for it is that their role and yours changes depending on your relationship situation.

As a girlfriend he'll treat you a certain way (nicely at first) but once you get married the roles will change and you can expect a whole new dynamic.

A Korean Man's Dating Style

So a Westerner would either date more casually or if he's a boyfriend he will live in with you. Not so with a Korean guy.

They're not used to 'casual dating' as a Westerner would be (although that's changing.) You can also expect him to not live with you even though you're his girlfriend. The reason is that Koreans only live together once they're married.

"So where will we be able to enjoy our intimacy?" If you're looking to hang out with him then he'll take you to a coffee shop or Korean bar (hof.) If he wants to get even more intimate he'll take you to a love motel or DVD room (if you're in Korea.) Or you can simply invite him to your place.

"What are some other cute things they'll do?"

A Korean guy will try to carry your bag(s), pay for everything and even take pictures of you when you meet.

On the other hand he might not hold the door open for you, let you walk through first or walk on the side of the sidewalk that's next to the road. 

A Korean Man's Expectations

Whereas a Western man might expect you to hold conversation well, show your independence (i.e. living on your own) and be somewhat ambitious, a Korean man will not.

Most Korean men are okay (and even prefer it) if you're shy and let him talk, pretend to be 'dependent' on him for affection or guidance and be more family-oriented than career-oriented.

In fact if you want to make a good impression I recommend calling him 'obba' which means 'older brother'. It also means that you're looking up to him and giving him permission to lead your interaction/relationship.
